The best way to spend your time after arrival at the Herbert Park Hotel is to explore the wonderful surrounding area. Our hotel's unique position right next to the 48 acre stunning Herbert Park gives our guests an option to relax in the calm surroundings of nature. Take a rest with a tasty lunch from the Terrace Lounge and enjoy a walk around the picturesque park. Families can take advantage of the amazing playground, the family walking trail, as well as endless greenery perfect for a picnic & play.

Explore, engage and connect with Irish history and culture in 20 interactive galleries at EPIC. Go beyond the stereotypes and discover what it truly means to be Irish. EPIC was the Winner of Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards 2019 and 2020.

Jeannie Johnston Tall Ship (4 km)

This remarkable replica of a famine ship tells the story of those caught in the potato famine and their desperate bid for a new life elsewhere. The dark history is treated with respect and sensitivity, but also with hope and humour, making for a fascinating and intriguing experience.

The National Wax Museum Plus (4 km)

Explore The National Wax Museum Plus in Dublin City on a self-guided tour. Meet a moving dinosaur at the entrance, stroll through Irish history from the Bronze Age, before stepping into the present. Learn all about how the body functions to how the solar system works. See Irish inventions in the Science and Discovery Zone or step through the Mirror Maze to the Hall of Fame. Children will love the Kids Zone with some of their favourite characters and a fluorescent fantasy forest.
You can also hang out among the giants of Irish literature in a themed bar overlooking O'Connell Bridge and the Spire or get transported right into a classic music video at the Wax Factor Studios. Try not to scream during the Virtual Reality experiences such as a rollercoaster and a Jurassic Jungle journey. And of course, get up close and personal to Waxworks of the celebrities for amazing photo opportunities.

Dublin Zoo (8 km)

Dublin Zoo, located in beautiful Phoenix Park, is Ireland’s most popular family attraction and welcomes over one million visitors each year. Opened in 1831, it is one of the world’s oldest and most popular zoos, home to some 400+ animals on 70 acres. Animals at Dublin Zoo live enriched lives in natural social groups, they are fit and healthy, able to breed and raise their own young. They can be observed in naturalistic spaces with vegetation, substrate and water features which reflect their native habitat.

Coastal Towns and Villages

Take a day trip and wander around picturesque towns, discover secret beaches or enjoy breath-taking cliff walks. Whether you are looking for outdoor adventures, tasty seafood, quirky shops, historical castles or a magical shoreline – Dublin is surrounded by it all. Be sure to put Bray with Sea Life Aquarium and Malahide with the charming Malahide Castle, Butterfly House and Fairy Garden on your itinerary if you are looking to surprise and amaze the youngest members of your family.

Airfield Estate (6 km)

Airfield Estate is Dublin's only urban working farm which is open to the public all year round. On the estate you will find many attractions including the Overend family home, kitchen, gardens, vintage cars, farm and play area. Get cosy with the hens and collect freshly laid eggs. Make friends with the goats, pigs, hens & donkeys and, if you time it right, you’ll see them getting fed by the farm team.

Emerald Park (38 km)

Emerald Park is Ireland’s only theme park and zoo located in County Meath. It is home to Cú Chulainn, Europe’s largest wooden roller coaster with an inversion and Ireland’s only water flume ride, The Viking Voyage.
From rollercoasters and playgrounds, to a petting farm and bird of prey displays, the Grand Carousel and Power Surge, there are plenty of attractions to suit the whole family.
