There have been some recent traffic management changes affecting Dublin City Centre, consequently our directions have been amended to facilitate these changes and to guide you in what we consider the most convenient route through the city centre to the south side of Dublin.)
Upon leaving the terminal building, take the main exit, which will bring you to a roundabout (circle). Take the second exit signposted M1 City Centre.
Drive along the M1 for approximately 8km; this will bring you onto Swords Road; turn left at the junction with Griffith Avenue and continue for 3/4km to the junction with Malahide Road. Turn right going south to join with Fairview Strand then North Strand Road and then Amiens Street, this will take you to the historic Customs House building directly in front of you; turn left and, keeping the Custom House to your right, follow the road around to Custom House Quay, there will be a bridge directly in front of you.
Cross the bridge over the Liffey and turn left onto the City Quay drive along the quay until about 1/2 km along the road turns to the right onto Cardiff Lane, then cross the junction continue along Macken Street until the junction with Grand Canal Street Lower. Turn left onto Grand Canal Street then onto Shelbourne Road; after about 3/4km you will reach the major junction at Ballsbridge with Merrion Road. Turn left and cross Balls' Bridge itself and take the first right onto Anglesea Road and then the next right over the River Dodder.
This will have brought you into the Herbert Park Hotel complex. After collecting your ticket at the barrier, follow the road to the slip road and into the Hotel's underground car park.
The Aircoach is also available from Dublin Airport which will bring you to Ballsbridge. The stop is Merrion Road, Toyota Centre and is just across the road from Herbert Park Hotel.
TrainsFrom Heuston Station and Connolly Station, Herbert Park Hotel is a short journey by taxi. Depending on traffic you should allow for up to 20 minutes journey time.
From Connolly Station you can also take the DART to Landsdowne Road Station and the hotel is a 10 minute walk from the station.
Buses also leave from Heuston Station into Dublin city centre from where the No. 7 Bus leaves from Trinity College end of Dawson Street. The No. 7 passes right by Herbert Park Hotel.
FerrysDun Laoghaire Ferry Terminal
Upon leaving the Ferry Terminal turn right onto Crofton Road (N3). Follow this road onto Rock Road (R113), which in turn will bring you out onto Merrion Road. Continue along Merrion Road passing by the Royal Dublin Society Show Grounds (RDS) on your left hand side. At the end of the RDS turn left onto Anglesea Road and then the first right. This will bring you onto the Herbert Park Hotel complex. After collecting your ticket at the barrier, follow the road to the slip road and into the Hotel's underground car park.
Dublin Ferry Terminal
To leave the Ferry Terminal take the Alexander Road to the first roundabout (circle), take the first exit on the left going south to the east wall road all the way to the "East Link Toll Bridge". Cross the bridge (toll is about €1.45) and continue along the road to the next roundabout (circle), take the third exit travelling south west onto Sean Moore Road. At the fork in the road take the right hand fork then left onto Church Avenue, then London Bridge Road and Bath Avenue. At the top of Bath Avenue turn left onto Shelbourne Road, continue along Shelbourne Road until you get to the major road junction at Ballsbridge. Turn left and cross the bridge then take the first right at the far end of the bridge onto Anglsea Road. Take the next right onto the Hotel complex and follow the signs from there.
